The Story of Mishlove & Stuckert: Trusted Attorneys in Wisconsin
I've been practicing OWI defense in Wisconsin since 1981, with the belief that every person charged with a crime deserves the best defense available to them. An OWI arrest can feel disorienting. Our job, from the moment we pick up the phone, is to make sure you don't have to face any of it alone.
Here's the story of Mishlove & Stuckert and how we've made a name for ourselves as Wisconsin's Top-rated DUI/OWI firm.
What Sets Us Apart
A Narrow Focus
Lauren Stuckert and I built our law firm to focus exclusively on OWI and DUI defense: the science of blood and breath testing, the mechanics of field sobriety evaluations, the legal arguments that challenge a stop, an arrest, a result. We've spent our entire careers going deeper into this one area of law than most attorneys will ever go, and the result is a level of expertise that a general practice firm simply cannot offer. With this narrow focus, our team has:
40+
Years of experience achieving dismissals and reduced charges
400+
OWI jury trials successfully argued in Wisconsin courts
#1
Wisconsin's only NCDD-ABA accredited DUI defense specialists
The Highest Credential in the Field
Wisconsin's Only True DUI Specialists
Board certification in DUI defense through the National College for DUI Defense is the highest credential an OWI defense attorney can earn. It requires years of focused practice in this area of law, demonstrated proficiency in the forensic science behind breath and blood testing, peer review of your trial work, and passing a rigorous written examination.
For Lauren, earning that certification came with another distinction: she was the youngest attorney in the nation to achieve it. She also holds a certificate in Forensic Chromatography Blood Alcohol Analysis, a credential that gives her a deep understanding of how blood tests are performed, where errors happen, and how to challenge results that other attorneys would simply accept. When a case turns to the science of what was in your blood, that kind of knowledge changes outcomes.
For me, the credential is the product of four decades of single-minded focus. I have tried more than 400 jury trials in OWI cases. I've argued the legal and scientific nuances of this area of law in courtrooms across Wisconsin and in classrooms across the country. I've studied the flaws in sobriety testing, the chemistry of breath analysis, and the procedural mistakes law enforcement makes that can change the outcome of a case.
The Standard for Wisconsin OWI Defense
We Literally Wrote the Book
In 2013, I co-authored "Wisconsin OWI Defense: The Law & Practice," the first and only textbook written specifically for attorneys defending OWI cases in Wisconsin. It covers everything from the science of breath and blood testing to trial advocacy strategy, and it became the go-to resource for Wisconsin lawyers handling these cases almost immediately after publication. A revised and updated second edition followed in 2020.
"When Wisconsin attorneys take on an OWI case, many of them open my book. The knowledge that went into that book is the same knowledge Lauren and I bring to every client we represent."
The People in Your Corner
Meet the Attorneys
Board-Certified OWI Defense Specialist
Andrew Mishlove
I've been practicing OWI defense in Wisconsin since 1981, longer than most attorneys have been licensed. In that time, I've tried more than 400 jury trials, argued cases at every level of the Wisconsin court system, taught the country's most advanced courses in forensic science and trial advocacy at the University of Texas at Arlington, and developed a reputation that extends well beyond state lines.
This year, I received the Erwin-Taylor Lifetime Achievement Award from the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD), the nation's premier organization for attorneys practicing in this field. The Erwin-Taylor Award, their highest honor, recognizes contributions to the College as well as the entire defense community. I am also a Fellow of the NCDD, an honor bestowed by the Board of Regents upon those who have fulfilled many years of service and have served as Dean of the College.

Lauren Stuckert
Lauren has been practicing since 2009 and has built a track record that speaks for itself. She was the youngest attorney in the nation to earn board certification as a DUI defense specialist and was the first Wisconsin attorney to earn a certificate in Forensic Chromatography Blood Alcohol Analysis, which means she understands the chemistry behind blood testing at a level most defense attorneys don't come close to. She is one of a very small number of attorneys in the country who has successfully challenged laboratory blood test results in impaired driving cases. Clients who work with Lauren consistently describe her as thorough, composed under pressure, and relentless when the science or the procedure doesn't add up.
