Videotape of a drunken driving arrest is often crucial to the defense.  It may show that the arresting officer used improper procedures in the field sobiety testing or the subject had goood balance (contrary to the police reports).

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has traffic survellance cameras posted at many areas on Wisconsin’s highway system.  Most major highway interchanges and many major areas of the state’s highways are under constant surveillance.  Unfortunately, unless a request is made to preserve the surveillance video, it will only be kept for three days.  Many private businesses such as gas stations, hotels and shopping malls also have video surveillance of their parking areas.
